COVID-19 SAFETY

CIFAR is committed to providing our events in a manner that is safe and compliant with all applicable public health regulations. Please carefully review our COVID Policy carefully. All participants will be asked to sign a participant agreement during the registration process.

Safety proceedures at the hotel

In order to protect our guests as well as our teams, Germain Hotels have implemented very strict hygiene and safety measures.

Current regulations include. 

  • Masking is optional, but recommended in common areas
  • Enhanced cleaning protocols are in place

  • CIFAR will ask you to complete a COVID Self-assessment form daily in order to participate 

COVID-19 Testing

  • At this time COVID-19 testing is not required for fully vaccinated travellers entering Canada 
  • If testing is required to return to your home country, CIFAR will cover this cost as an elegible expense

Testing Locations 

If required for return to your home country, participants can obtain a COVID-19 test at: 

1. Switch Health at Union Station (across the road from the hotel) Rapid Antigen test within 1 hour, Standard PCR test same or next day by 11:59pm - Strongly recommend an appointment, but walk-ins are welcome, subject to availablity. Click here to book.

2. City Life Pharmacy & Compounding Centre 35 Lower Simcoe St. Toronto Phone: 416-214-2489

3 - Pearson Airport offers testing for departing passengers Results can take 60 minutes - 48 hours depending on the test type.

 

Virtual testing options: 

Option 1. https://acculab.ca/ (Your rapid antigen test kit must be on this list to use this service) 

Option 2. https://www.audaciapass.com/, click BYOT (Use your Canadian or USA approved tests (Please confirm your test is approved in the US)

Option 3. https://rapidtestcanada.ca/faq/ (travelers to the EU can use the virtual proctored options, as long as they use a test that is approved in Canada)

NOTE: CIFAR will provide the BTNX rapid antigen test for anyone choosing to test using a virtual proctor.  The BTNX test is listed as the “Rapid Response Antigen Nasal Test” on the acculab website.

 

4. Many Airlines will offer testing options when booking a flight.

Please do not attend the meeting in-person if you

  • Are feeling ill
  • Have been diagnosed with COVID-19 within 14 days
  • Have been exposed to COVID-19 within the last 14 days
  • Expenses incurred to date will be covered by CIFAR if last minute cancellation is required due to exposure/restrictions

Vaccination 

Attendees at our in-person events must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. 

 

International Visitors to Canada

International visitors to Canada must be fully vaccinated and must enter details in the ArriveCAN app. Read more about entry requirements here.
