Zoom Best Practices & Etiquette

  • Please log on a few minutes before the start time to test speakers and microphone, and to minimize disruptions once the meeting begins. The zoom line will be open ten minutes before the meeting start time.

  • The meeting will be moderated by a CIFAR team member.

  • Please mute your microphone unless you are speaking. This cuts down on excess background noise. The mute button is on the bottom left of the Zoom window.

  • As Host of the meeting, CIFAR will be able to mute people remotely.

  • Zoom has a "raise hand" feature. You can find the Raise Hand button by clicking 'Participants' and looking at the bottom of the sidebar that appears. CIFAR will be monitoring for raised hands.

  • Please raise your hand if you would like to speak and are not next on the agenda (eg to ask the speakers questions).

  • If you have technical questions or are having trouble with Zoom, please email or Zoom message Grace Wong at grace.wong@cifar.ca

  • The meeting will be recorded. If you have concerns about this, please reach out to the meeting planner prior to the meeting.
